Raising the Hunley: The Remarkable History and Recovery of the Lost Confederate Submarine. By Brian Hicks.

Yeah . . . I know this book came out several years ago and it’s optimal review date may have passed but I have to make sure this one is in our database for keyword searches on this site.

Hicks does a great job telling the background story of this famous Confederate submarine and brings the reader to modern-day and narrates the story of how the once-lost submarine was found and finally raised in 2000.  I could not put this book down when I first read it.

Start with this book.  Move on to The Hunley by Mark K. Ragan after Hicks.
